4 of the Latest Trends in Women’s Dresses
From denim from head to toe to floral to miniskirts to crop tops and everything in between, fashion is like that revolving door you see at a grand hotel. It is continuously moving – and it is also kind of going in circles.
We see several trends over the years that repeat themselves. Now, it might be 5, 10, or 15 years down the road, but typically the majority of trends fade out and eventually make their way back in again.
But whether it is a new trend or a recycled one, it is like a game trying to keep up.
Don’t worry though, we’ve done all the work for you. We are about to give you the inside scoop on what is hot in women’s dresses today, and we’ll even show you pieces that embody these trends.
1. Ruffles and Florals
Ruffles and floral, need we say more? These fashion dos check basically all of the boxes on the must-have list.
Floral and ruffles are definitely one of those trends that have come full circle.
Floral has been all the rage this year – with the fun pattern, the bright colours and just the pure joy that everything about floral brings to an outfit. While it might be hard to pair with some items, often all you need for a floral dress is a great solid shoe. The great thing about a floral dress is that it speaks volumes on its own – it is your statement piece.
And, of course, ruffles are great for reasons of their own, too.
Ruffles add volume to an outfit and volume adds a fun aspect. Ruffles are a great way to not only dress things up a little, but in a still semi-casual way, but they are also a great way to accentuate your body without feeling like your outfit is skin tight.
2. Baby Doll Style
The baby doll style – dress or top – is one that has withstood the test of time for the most part. There hasn’t really been a period recently where baby doll tops and dresses were “out,” however they have seen a bit of a pickup in popularity lately.
If you are a little shy about your midsection, or maybe you are just incredibly proud of your top half, or maybe you’re both, a baby doll dress can do something for all of this.
The fitted top half and flowy bottom give you a comfortable, stylish, and semi-casual look. Plus, with this great print, you really can’t go wrong.
3. Midi Dresses
The midi dress is a trend that you have likely seen all over. While crop tops and other more risqué pieces have been a trend this past summer, we have also seen more modest pieces, like the midi dress, fly off the shelves.
Dresses like the one above are light, airy and still show off your figure while still remaining modest, classic and simple. These can easily be dressed down, as shown in the picture, with your favourite sneakers. Or, you could easily dress it up with a cardigan and your favourite pair of sandals.
4. Cocktail Dresses
Lastly, we’ve got our simple carnival dress. The carnival dress is a summer cocktail dress. The spaghetti straps keep it fun and cool, but it is the perfect little black dress for a summer night out on the town.
And not to mention the print – we, of course, need a good print for all of our dresses. The lightly detailed lines are just enough to make you stand out in a crowd.
We’ve covered everything from the print to the style of the dress.
